The founding Intensivists first sat together at the end of 2008 to conduct research as part of an international study on “Management of Severe Sepsis in Asia’s Intensive Care Units” (abbreviated as MOSAICS study) covering 20 Asian countries including Bangladesh. Prof. Mohammad Omar Faruq, the Founding President of BSCCM, was the national coordinator from Bangladesh for that study. With his initiation 17 ICUs from Dhaka city participated in that study conducted in July 2009. Following completion of that study, Prof. Faruq convened a meeting on Dec 5, 2009 inviting leading intensivists of Dhaka city including those who participated in MOSAICS study & proposed formation of BSCCM.
