BSCCM organized 1st International Conference on Critical Care Medicine in Bangladesh on March 14th to 17th, 2013. It comprised of 2 days of Scientific Sessions, 2 days of Pre-Conference Workshops & 1 day of Post-Conference Workshop. Around 700 consultants, doctors, ICU nurses, technicians & others interested in ICU were registered in this conference. Six foreigners also registered. Among them, four were faculty members & two were participants.

Inaugural Session of the conference was held on 16th March, 2013 in Winter Garden of Ruposhi Bangla Hotel. Prof Pran Gopal Datta, VC, BSMMU, was the Chief guest, and Prof Mahmud Hasan, President, BMA & Prof M Iqbal Arslan, Secretary General, BMA, were the Special Guests in the inauguration. Prof Younsuck Koh, the past-President of Korean Society of Critical Care Medicine & the Organizing Chairman of the 12th WFSICCM Congress in Seoul, was the key note speaker who delivered his speech on “CCM resource limited countries in Asia: challenge & vision” on the 1st day of conference.

1st day of Scientific Session was held on 16th March, 2013 in Winter Garden of Ruposhi Bangla Hotel. 2nd day of Scientific Session was held in Milon Hall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on 17th March, 2013. Scientific Sessions included Pediatric Critical Care, Pulmonary Critical Care, Mechanical Ventilation, Surgery, Trauma & Emergency Critical Care, Neuro Critical Care, Infection & Sepsis in ICU, Gastro & Hepatic Critical Care, Cardiac Critical Care, Nephrology Critical Care and other related topics. Renowned Professors & Consultants from Home & abroad were in the faculty. Prof JV Divatia, past President of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, Prof Younsuck Koh, the past-President of KSCCM, Prof Narendra Rungta, President of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, & Prof Nobuo Fuke, Director of Emergency & Intensive Care Center, Teikyo University Ichihara Hospital, Tokyo, Japan, were the foreign faculties.

There were two workshops on Mechanical Ventilator (15th & 30th March, 2013) & one workshop on Bronchoscopy (14th March). Around 90 doctors participated in the mechanical ventilator workshop & 30 in bronchoscopy workshop. All three workshops were held in BIRDEM General Hospital. Consultants from BIRDEM, NIDCH & Square Hospital worked as Instructor. Certificates were given to all participants following successful completion. 

An enjoyable Cultural program was held on 16th March night at BIAM Auditorium.
